Oktober Already?

Christmas toys show up in the stores in August. Halloween sales start soon after. And Easter starts on Valentine's Afternoon.

Now it seems they've moved all the local Oktoberfests to the middle of September.

I'm sorry. I can't celebrate Oktober when I'm still picking peas from my garden.

Time flies fast enough. Why do we have to rush it?

Well technically speaking Oktoberfest has always started in September. The Oktoberfest is a sixteen-day festival held each year starting in late September and ending in early October.

I totally know what you mean. Hey patti, I'm just showing lydia your blog because we're thinking of setting one up for her. Your brother called. That was cool. Hopefully we'll hear more from him. :-) -Laura

I stand corrected. Though the first Oktoberfest was October 12-17, it does now encompass the last 2 weeks before the first Sunday in October.

Still, where has the year gone?

I refuse to rush mine. Everything comes in it's own time around here. But, have you Ever seen me early for anything? Smiles!

In last Friday's Weekend magazine in the Oregonian, there were at least five different spins on the "oktobeerfest" theme. I almost lost it when I read about another fanatical pet lover's group celebrating... [wait for this... ] "Dogtoberfest" complete with treats for your favorite pooch!
[Maybe little pieces of hot dogs would be appropriate??]
