On Blogging

Didn't Churchill say something like this about blogging?

Never have so many had so much to say about so little to so few.

That's how I'm feeling about this blog right now, like it needs more direction, more streamlining, more purpose. What would you like to see?

Patty, me too! I've really been struggling with my blog lately. Have I said everything that can be said? Are there no more interesting thoughts in my head? Am I a tree falling in a forest with no one listening?

Well, I'm a lousy correspondent, but I check your blog daily. It is a source of genuine smiles. It is like the good news page of my morning newspaper.

Thanks, Linda. The people I know are checking are what keeps me posting. I just want to make sure what I write is worth your time.

Well, I have a vested interest here, of course, but basically, favorite daughter, I like your attitude about life - especiallywhen I can share a little in who you are and read something about your family life. I enjoy knowing what you are doing because that seems to often be creative and purposful, even novel at times. Insights to your thinking and planning are interesting and often cleverly expressed. I want to know about the best books you are reading and how your own writing is going. I want to hear about your kids and your husband and your "faith walk" and your hopes and dreams. I want to go along on your excursions and daytrips and longer journies. I want to hear about your friends both locally and in far away places. I like your photography when it is available. I'm curious about how your garden grows and what new meals you are preparing. You have an appealing way of describing the ordinary in terms that make it interesting and a way of dealing with meaningful thoughts about the important events and features of daily life that make me think. I am often captured by how you describe what is on your mind and how you can cut to the heart of important matters in a few select words or phrases. Your heart is pure and your intent is always good and that's refreshing. I want to share your life - even through the window of your blog - because you delight me and inspire me and encourage me, so I love to tag along. I check for a new entry every time I turn on my laptop because I don't want to miss a single episode. Please keep up the pace and continue to brighten my days. Your Daddy.
